How do I boost my "Troop Upkeep" in EVONY?

by admin on February 26, 2010

I have all my troops(no more than 500 of them) in the barracks and 50k food. Why is the "Troop Upkeep" at a -1804? I don’t have any of the troops out fighting, where else can they be?

The "Troop Upkeep" number is simply how much food per hour it takes to maintain your troops. This number will always be a negative number and go up every time you add more troops to your city. As long as your city produces more food than your troops consume you will be fine. What you really need to be concerned with is the Net Production of food.

If you hover your cursor over the corn symbol on the right side of the screen you will see a break down of how much food your city produces, minus how much your troops consume (Troop Upkeep) and the bottom number (Net Production) shows how much food per hour your city produces after the troops are fed.

You always want to make sure that the Net Production of food is a positive number. If your Net Production is a negative number, you are not producing enough food for your troops.

For example; if you city produces 3000 food per hour and your Troop Upkeep is -1804, your cities net production of food will be 1196. Your troops will have enough to eat and your city will accumulate 1196 food per hour.

On the other hand, if your city only produces only 1000 food per hour and your troop upkeep is -1804, your Net Production will be -804. In this example, your city is not producing enough food to sustain your troops. They will eat whatever food you have in storage at a rate of 804 per hour, and when that is gone they will starve.
